Hiking

Hiking in Iceland is no easy business.  Hiking is the classic way of getting to know the Icelandic countryside - either by walking cross-country with a map and compass or following one of the marked out routes. For longer tours you need to be fit and well equipped. A wide variety of organised and special-interest tours are available to walking and hiking enthusiasts.

  • Shorts
  • Three pairs of socks
  • Trek trousers
  • Two thermal pants
  • Two thermal tops
  • Wading shoes or sandals
  • Water proof hiking boots
  • Waterproof trousers

  • Windbreaker or anorak
